Just Another Fish

Just got word: not going to get the place at Bristol.

But I’m going to bed so I’m afraid that’s going to have to wait.

Still no word from Bristol. I’m going to have to ring them up, aren’t I? *sigh* I’m now contemplating life without getting on a PhD. It ain’t that pretty looking.

It’s been a good weekend on the Poker. About 6 weeks ago I created an account with Paradise Poker, and including a small bonus of about $6 I started with a bankroll of $35. Now, PP do not offer low-stakes STTs (Single Table Tournaments), which was then my favourite form of poker, but instead have a minimum buy-in of $6. A few badly played games of these and some MTTs saw my ‘roll plummet to about $4. This wasn’t good, and forced me to play some 1c/2c cash games (max buy-in $2). I played sporadically and my funds steadily, but slowly, increased. This week I had managed to get it to about $25 and I entered a 50-seat $5 game. I placed 4th, which won me about $27 and pushed me past the magic $50 barrier. This enabled me to play the 5c/10c (max $10) games, which saw my rate of earnings increase. I played a 100-seater $5 game, placing 12th, just out of the money. Nethertheless, with funds about $65 I played another this saturday… which I won. Rock. This got me $136, and enabled me to play the 10c/25c games (max $25), which has now taken my weekend earnings to $200. I am planning to cash out my account (£140) . I’m happy.

I have been meaning to update this blog when I find out about the Bristol Situation. I was told this should have reached clarity last Friday, but sadly I’m yet to hear back.

I do mean to post here more often, and since my social life is not providing my muse I shall have to range wider for material.

People who know me know I have some rather strange philosophical ideas. They will be simply ecstatic to hear that I plan to talk about them here. Oh, yes.
